About the Course
COURSE STRUCTURE:

This course is a series of 5 workshops (overall 10 hours) with theoretical and practical parts, in which we will analyze together our work, the creative path of famous illustrators and artists working in various fields of art, and learn how to apply new analytics skills in finding our style and further work. In the practical parts, we are going to be using and understanding illustration creation not only as a physical drawing but also how to finalize our art with the use of Photoshop, procreate, phone scanners, etc.”

LESSON 1
The Importance of Personal Style
In this lesson, we will discuss why having a personal visual style is important and how it can help in creating illustrations, animations, and posters. We are also going to look at maintaining distinctive elements while experimenting. We will also learn about character simplification based on Scott McCloud's theory and practice by drawing our mascot and simplifying its features while retaining its recognisability.
Lesson 2
Finding Your Personal Style
In this lesson, we will explore whether or not you have a personal visual style and how to find it. We will go over the basics of analyzing your drawings and practice by combining elements of existing features in your drawings.
Lesson 3
Simplifying Your Style for Different Tasks
In this lesson, we will discuss how the style of an image changes depending on the task. We will cover animation, poster, web illustration, book illustration, and how simplifying the style can make our lives easier. Additionally, we will learn about working with text and practice by creating a movie poster from start to finish using painting/drawing materials, scanning, Photoshop, and Procreate.
Lesson 4
Copying and Inspiration
In this lesson, we will talk about "Steal Like an Artist" by Austin Kleon and how it's hard to find something completely new. We will learn how to get out of an art coma and try new things without fear of copying others.

We will practice by taking the features of the styles of two artists to choose from 6 and combining them in our way using the analysis techniques we have learned.

Lesson 5
Enhancing, Polishing & Analysing
In this lesson, we will review how to finalize our pictures and sketches, and what is important to look at. Also, we will review cropping the final image and how this can make the picture more dynamic. There are a lot of factors to look at when making your illustration into a final product no matter which kind of project you are working on. We will practice by finalizing the sketches from previous lessons and using our skills basing the process on the information we have learned.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Your favorite and used ones for creating illustrations, but if you would like to challenge yourself you can use watercolor, ink/paint-based materials are recommended by not being able to erase the mistake but work over it.

Scanner, and procreate app would be a great addition but not essential.

During this course we will use applications like Miro, to encorage a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
