Lesson 1
The Importance of Personal Style
In this lesson, we will talk about the importance of developing a personal visual style and how it can help with creating illustrations, animations, and posters. We will also cover ways to maintain unique elements while trying out new things. Additionally, we will delve into character simplification using Scott McCloud's theory. To put this into practice, we'll draw our mascot and simplify its features while ensuring it remains recognizable.
Lesson 2
Finding Your Personal Style
We will thoroughly explore the presence of your unique visual style and bring it to light. We will begin by deconstructing the fundamentals of analyzing your drawings and then progress to applying your skills to combine elements of your drawings.
Lesson 3
Simplifying Your Style for Different Tasks
In this lesson, we will explore how an image's style can vary based on the intended task. We will discuss different tasks such as animation, posters, web illustrations, and book illustrations. We'll also learn how simplifying the style can make our work easier. Additionally, we will cover working with text and gain hands-on experience by creating a movie poster from scratch using painting/drawing materials, scanning, Photoshop, and Procreate.
Lesson 4
Copying and Inspiration
Let's delve into Austin Kleon's "Steal Like an Artist" and its message about the challenge of creating something entirely original. We will also look at ways to break out of creative stagnation and overcome the fear of being accused of plagiarism.

To apply these concepts, we will choose two artists from a list of six and examine their styles. Next, we will merge elements of their styles in our own unique way using the analysis techniques we've acquired.
Lesson 5
Enhancing, Polishing & Analysing
In this lesson, we will go through the process of finalizing our sketches and pictures, and discuss the key elements to pay attention to. We will also cover the important technique of cropping the final image to make it more dynamic. Regardless of the project you're working on, there are several factors to consider when turning your illustration into a finished product. Through practice, we will apply what we have learned in previous lessons to finalize our sketches and improve our skills.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Your favorite tools for creating illustrations. If you'd like a challenge, try using watercolor or ink/paint-based materials. They're recommended because mistakes cannot be erased, but can be worked over.

Scanner, and Procreate app would be a great addition but not essential.

During this course we will use applications like Miro, to encourage a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
