LESSON 1
The Importance of Personal Style
In this lesson, we will discuss the significance of having a personal visual style, and how it can assist in creating illustrations, animations, and posters. We will also explore how to maintain distinctive elements while experimenting. Additionally, we will learn about character simplification based on Scott McCloud's theory. We will practice this by drawing our mascot and simplifying its features while retaining its recognizability.
Lesson 2
Finding Your Personal Style
In this lesson, we will thoroughly investigate the existence of your personal visual style and uncover it. We will start by breaking down the basics of analyzing your drawings and then move on to putting your skills to the test by combining elements of your drawings.
Lesson 3
Simplifying Your Style for Different Tasks
In this lesson, we will explore how the style of an image can vary based on the task it's intended for. We will be discussing different tasks such as animation, poster, web illustration, and book illustration. We'll also learn how simplifying the style can make our work easier. Moreover, we will cover working with text and get hands-on experience by creating a movie poster from scratch using painting/drawing materials, scanning, Photoshop, and Procreate.
Lesson 4
Copying and Inspiration
We will discuss Austin Kleon's "Steal Like an Artist" and its message about the difficulty of creating something entirely new. We will also explore ways to break out of creative stagnation and overcome the fear of being accused of plagiarism.

To put these ideas into practice, we will select two artists from a list of six and analyze their styles. Then, we will combine elements of their styles in our original way using the analysis techniques we have learned.
Lesson 5
Enhancing, Polishing & Analysing
In this lesson, we will go through the process of finalizing our sketches and pictures, and discuss the key elements to pay attention to. We will also cover the important technique of cropping the final image to make it more dynamic. Regardless of the project you're working on, there are several factors to consider when turning your illustration into a finished product. Through practice, we will apply what we have learned in previous lessons to finalize our sketches and improve our skills.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Your favorite tools for creating illustrations. If you'd like a challenge, try using watercolor or ink/paint-based materials. They're recommended because mistakes cannot be erased, but can be worked over.

Scanner, and procreate app would be a great addition
but not essential.

During this course we will use applications like Miro, to encourage a dynamic and interactive learning experience.
